Version 2.1b3   November 19, 2001
Mac OS X native.
Fixed a bug in which a volume listed in the Select Start Volumes dialog may have mapped to a non-volume folder.
Fixed a bug that may have caused a crash when saving results to a file.
Implemented inter-file response time when pressing the Stop button. In previous versions of SpeedSearch, pressing the Stop button would not actually stop the search until searching was completed on the current file. Now, pressing the Stop button stops the search immediately.

Version 2.0   December 20, 2000
The entire line of the match is now selected when opening files in CodeWarrior, BBEdit and Alpha.
Added the capability to clear missing recent folders.
Added a preference to open a file by double clicking in the results area.
Added option to write full paths when saving results as TEXT.
Added translucent drags.

Added a preference to find and display all matches on a line.
Added a preference to display unique names in the Start Folder Menu when not showing full paths.
Case-insensitive searches now use a System resource for determining lower- and upper-case pairs. This results in better matching on localized systems.
Added a preference to specify the number of characters to display per line for non-TEXT files.
Fixed a problem in which long lines wrapped in the search results.
Fixed a bug in which double-clicking a saved results file in the Finder did not open a new window.
Fixed a bug in which the copy command was sometimes not enabled when it should have been for the search results.
Fixed a bug in which the displayed folder path of a search result may not have truncated correctly.
Fixed Balloon Help in the Preferences dialog.
Added some tips.

Version 2.0b20   May 26, 2000
Fixed a bug that may cause SpeedSearch to crash when saving search results. This only occurred when using Navigation Services file dialogs.
Added the capability to set the start folder by dragging and dropping a folder from the Finder onto the start folder text field.

Version 2.0b19   May 17, 2000
Uses Appearance Manager controls.
Uses Navigation Services for file dialogs.
Fonts are now loaded when the Preferences dialog is first opened, resulting in much faster startup times on systems with many fonts installed.
Added recently used start folders to start folders popup menu. Added a preference to specify the maximum number of menu items.
Added a preference to either display the full paths or just the folder names in the start folders popup menu.
Changed the "Search File Types" radio buttons to a popup menu that allows you to specify groups of file types to search.
Changed controls to use the Application Font. Files, folders and user-defined strings should display correctly on non-US language systems.
Made SpeedSearch more responsive when in the process of performing a search. This makes switching from SpeedSearch to another application almost instantaneous.
Added drag and drop support to the search string field. Dragging text into the search string field now replaces the search string with the dragged text.
Added "goto line" support for the Alpha editor.
Added a preference to automatically quit SpeedSearch when last window is closed.
Added a preference to allow selection of any installed font to use for search results text.
Increased the maximum font size from 14 to 18.
Added display of the file's line number of the currently selected line in the results area.
Added the capability to find files based on line termination (MAC, DOS or UNIX).
Added support for displaying 32-bit icons.
Fixed a bug that would cause SpeedSearch to freeze when a disk error occurred while reading a file.
Text files in DOS format now open to the correct line in CodeWarrior, BBEdit and Alpha.
Fixed the following bug. Perform a search with a string beginning with a hyphen; quit SpeedSearch, start SpeedSearch, then try searching. The search would not find any results, and most likely would take less than a second.
Changed the color swatches in the Preferences and Modify Color Schemes dialogs to controls. They now track the mouse when clicked and only bring up the System Color Picker if the mouse is released within the control.
Fixed a bug that would cause SpeedSearch to crash when double-clicking on a saved results file in the Finder with SpeedSearch running, and not enough memory being available to open another window. SpeedSearch now handles this and displays an error dialog.
Increased the number of edit fields in the Add Item dialog (displayed when you select "Modify This Menu”" in the "Search File Names:" menu and then click the "Add”" button) from 6 to 12.
When pasting text into the search results, text containing carriage return or newline characters is not allowed—the system alert sound is now played if this operation is performed.
Made "Next Tip" the default button in the Tips dialog. You can now sequence to the next tip by pressing the return or enter key.
When saving search results, the state of the radio buttons in the Save dialog is saved in the preferences file.
Added some tips.

Version 1.1   November 7, 1997
Fixed a bug in which case-insensitive searches did not always find matches that should have been found.
Fixed a bug in which searches (case-sensitive or not) did not always find matches that should have been found. This may have occurred when a line containing the search string also contained a character with an ASCII code greater than 127 (e.g., ©).
Fixed a bug that would cause SpeedSearch to crash when loading a results file. This would only occur if the number of files represented in the results area was greater than 512 and either SpeedSearch was starting up when loading the file or the number of search results currently displayed was less than the number of results in the file.
Fixed a bug with saved search results files in which not all of the line information was being saved. When loading a search results file and then opening the file in CodeWarrior, the insertion point was not positioned at the line corresponding to the selected line in the search results.
Fixed the positioning of the radio buttons in the Save Results dialog so that they no longer overlap.
Added a "NOT Matching" checkbox to the main search window. When checked, the search results display file names that do not contain matches of the search string.
Added a window that displays information about a file in the results area. Clicking on the arrow that points to the selected line pops up this window.
When a file is opened into BBEdit or CodeWarrior, the insertion point is placed at the line corresponding to the line in the search results. Version 1.0 only supported this with CodeWarrior.
When opening a selected file in the search results, a running application with the same creator code as the one the file is to be opened in is looked for first. If an application is found, the file is opened in the running application. Otherwise, the file is opened in either the application selected in the Preferences (if one is selected) or in the file's creator application (if one is not selected in the Preferences).
When opening the enclosing folder of the file selected in the search results, the file is now selected in the Finder.
When launching SpeedSearch, the "Search for:" field is set to the last search string used.
Added radio buttons to the Find dialog that allow you to specify whether to find text in the file names, matches, or both.
The current start folder is now saved when quitting SpeedSearch and used as the current folder the next time SpeedSearch is launched.
Made an improvement to the speed in which Preferences dialog opens. The Font menu in this dialog was previously built each time the dialog was opened, but it is now built one time only when SpeedSearch starts up.
Added some new Tips and updated others.
Printing is much improved.
Decreased the minimum font size from 9-point to 6-point. Smaller font sizes (e.g., 6-point Courier) are useful for printing on a high resolution printer.
